Sexual Intimacy

There are many differences in male and female sexual responses and because of that there are lots of challenges and opportunities that arise. Males tend to be aroused very quickly, have a short plateau, and then after an orgasm have to have some time to recover before they are able to have another orgasm. In females however, arousal may take a while, they may plateau for a long time, and they are able to have more than one orgasm without recovery time(which has been described as a pleasant sneeze). Because of these differences, there are lots of challenges that may occur, but also provide lots of opportunities to grow closer together. Women may be distracted during sex, whereas men are typically very focused while they are having sex. There are many false expectations in the world today about sex because of movies and porn that is prevelant all over. Typically when there is a hook up, the woman is more attached than the man is afterwards. There is also often only a love for their...

Getting to Marriage, and First Year of Marriage

In the last blog I wrote about the different types of dating. Something very important to know is that it is very easy to slide into marriage, and that is not good. Attachments that are easily made, are easily broken. After dating (going on dates (potentially with multiple people) there is courtship. Courtship is exclusively dating with marriage in mind. During courtship, make sure to allow space to grow apart from each other. Then comes the engagement. The proposal itself is sacred and intimate, and should be a private event. Every person has their preferences, but it is best if it is sacred and intimate. Then there are boundaries put in place that will last through marriage. With the engagement, that is a good time to close relationships with other people, specifically those of the opposite gender. The guy should propose on one knee for multiple reasons. Proposing on one knee shows that he is vulnerable and committed first. It also shows that he has incredible respect for her. ...

Types of Dating, why we date, advice, and bonding

There are two different types of dating that we normally see in the modern world. Those are assortative dating, and the “date to hate” philosophy. Assortative dating is where you start out with lots of different people(aka going on lots of dates with different people) and then narrowing down from there based on if you liked the date or person. Date to hate on the other hand, is where you hone in on one person until you hate them.  There can be lots of advice that people give, but some are better than others. It is best to date for a year or two because it takes time to get to know someone well. People may often forget to think, which is really bad. Relationships aren’t just about feelings. Use your brain and think about the logistics. You need to remember and think about the future. What do you want your future spouse to be like. Make sure to date someone who you want your future spouse to be like. Remember, you aren’t just dating for you, you are also dating to find the par...

Male and Female Typical Characteristics

There are many different typical characteristics for both male and female. Those characteristics complement each other. For example, here is a list of make and female typical characteristics. Females: Nurturing Cooperative Communication Sensitive to emotions Emotionally expressive Relative orientation Make choices based on how it will affect others Scatterbrained in danger Males:  Active, combative Competitive Spacial orientation Make decisions based on right and wrong Tunnel vision in danger/protective mode Aggressive physically Myopic Risk taking We need to connect and learn the best qualities from each other. This is why marriage is between a man and a woman. We need both sides of the spectrum. Finding someone who compliments you is essential to a good, healthy relationship or marriage.  There is gray and white matter in the brain. Gray matter is like the CPU and RPM of the brain, and is more common in men than women. This explains why men typically make decisions based on ...

Unity Within Marriage

Unity in marriage is essential. There can be extreme stress when one there is not unity in marriages. To increase the ability to be one in marriage there are several things that should be considered. Spencer W. Kimball has taught four principles that should be followed to create unity. The four principles are as follows: choose a partner who is close to perfection in the things that matter most, be unselfish, continue growing your love for your spouse, and keep the commandments. When these four principles are followed, then unity is more likely to be achieved.  No one is perfect, and expecting your partner to be perfect is the recipe for disaster. However, looking for someone who is close to perfection in the things that matter most to you will provide the unity and strength that you will need in marriage. To find the person that is close to perfect in the things that matter most to you means that you have to know what matters most to you. Those things could be characteristics or a...

Family Roles

God has opinions on families and on how families should be run. God has divinely designed families in a way that will give the whole family unit everything that they need. He has told us that fathers are to preside and provide the necessities of life. Presiding over the family doesn’t mean that he is the boss, but that he looks after, guides, and is responsible for the outcome of his family. The necessities of life include food, shelter, knowledge, and security (physical and emotional) to name a few. Mothers are responsible to nurture and raise children.  There are other roles that are present within families that God has not dictated. There are typically at least one peacemaker and a clown or tension reliever as well as a parental figure. Roles tend to change when family members leave the home. For example, in my family there are eight of us kids. Seven of us are girls, and we have one brother. It was strange when my older siblings would leave to go to college or serve a fu...

Strong Family Units are Essential

Families are being attacked left and right. There are so many differing opinions that are tossed around as truth. Like for instance in the apa report on the differences between a two parent (father and mother) homes, and same sex couples that was used in the court case about legalizing same sex marriages. The arguments within that report are not correct due to the nature of the study. They didn’t have reputable sources, and the studies they did/used were not statistically sound. They did not have random sampling, and there was bias in the samples. This report stated that there was not a statistical difference between children behavior and upbringing (to paraphrase) between a traditional two parent (mother and father) family, and a same sex couple. However, there is a large difference. They didn’t actually make the studies comparing two parent homes and same sex homes. They compared same sex homes and single mother homes. They took some of the wealthiest and highest educated same sex co...
